Robert Koolstra studied organ and harpsichord at the Northern Dutch Conservatory and then got a scholarship for his postgraduate degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (GB).
He plays continuo in various ensembles and made concert tours to Europe, Asia and America. As a soloist he is regularly heard on organ and harpsichord. Cooperation he provided to various TV and radio recordings. As artistic advisor and continuo player, he joined the choir and baroque orchestra of the Lutheran Bach Ensemble. He recently a soloist under the direction of Ton Koopman with the Lutheran Bach Ensemble in concert harpsichord F-dur of J.S. Bach.
In 2008/2009 he was professor of the department head and classic at the conservatory in Chennai (India) at the invitation of double Oscar winner A.R.Rahman. He then worked as a chamber musician and teacher in Montreal (Canada). He organized harpsichord festivals in Groningen where he integrated the last few years all Partitas and English Suites and the Well-Tempered Clavier by J.S. performed Bach. As an organist he is attached to the Remonstrant church in Groningen.
